The food and wine festival of the Mancalacqua neighbourhood at Parco Tortella
The Sagra di Mancalacqua is the food and wine festival of the neighbourhood of the same name, in the hamlet of Lugagnano in the Municipality of Sona (province of Verona). It takes place at Parco Germano Tortella, in via Volturno, generally on the last weekend of June or the first weekend of July, and is now a highly anticipated event of the local summer.
For three evenings, the park comes alive with a bar service, abundant food stalls, and musical entertainment every evening. On Sunday morning, a mass is also celebrated in the park in honour of the patron saint Sant'Egidio, testifying to the link between the sagra and the neighbourhood's identity. It is a festival designed for families and residents, where people gather around food and music.
Grown under the motto "a neighbourhood for the common good", the sagra is organised by the local Mancalacqua committee with the support of Pro Loco Sona and the collaboration of numerous local entities, including the Gruppo Alpini of Lugagnano and the AVIS section. It is a fine example of how the hamlet sagre (local festivals) of the Veronese area know how to combine socialising, tradition, and solidarity.
In 2026, the Mancalacqua neighbourhood of Lugagnano will once again host its Sagra di Mancalacqua at Parco Germano Tortella, featuring three evenings of food stalls, a bar service, and musical entertainment, as well as the Sunday mass in honour of the patron saint Sant'Egidio. The exact date (last weekend of June or first weekend of July) will be confirmed by the organising committee closer to the event.
Detailed program coming soon: it will be announced by the Mancalacqua committee with Pro Loco Sona in the weeks preceding the event. The established format includes three evenings with food stalls and music every night at Parco Tortella, and on Sunday morning, the mass in the park in honour of Sant'Egidio.
