The Sagra del Paese di Soncino is the traditional village festival that, every second Sunday of September, enlivens the village of Soncino, in the Province of Cremona. It is the highlight of the Settembre a Soncino event, which the Pro Loco Soncino has been organising since 1968, blending popular celebration, conviviality, and culture in the heart of one of Italy's most beautiful villages.

The Francesco Galantino Painting Prize

One of the most characteristic events of the festival is the Premio di Pittura Francesco Galantino (Francesco Galantino Painting Prize), an outdoor painting competition with a long history. Founded in the 1960s under the guidance of Professor Enea Ferrari, the prize invites artists to portray the landscapes, monuments, and historical figures of Soncino. The works, submitted in the afternoon, are judged and awarded the same evening, with prizes for the top finishers.

The Sagra del Paese is above all a moment of gathering for the Soncino community. Through the streets of the historic centre, enclosed by walls and dominated by the Rocca Sforzesca (Sforza Fortress), you can breathe the authentic atmosphere of a time-honoured village festival, where tradition and art merge.
