The kiwi festival in the heart of the Pavia plain

The Sagra del Kiwi is the autumn event in Pizzale, a small town in the plain in the province of Pavia, between Lomellina and Oltrepò. The event was born from the desire to promote the kiwi, a fruit that finds fertile ground and a favourable climate in this territory, becoming one of the most representative agricultural products of the town.

Kiwi in a thousand variations

During the festival, the kiwi is presented in all its forms: fresh, in jam, in desserts, in juices, and even in surprising savoury combinations. There is an exhibition and direct sale of the fruit at stalls in front of the town hall, while producers' stands allow visitors to learn about cultivation techniques and the product's characteristics.

The famous kiwi risotto

The signature dish of the festival is the kiwi risotto, prepared in the early afternoon by the cooks of the Pro Loco of Pizzale: an original combination that has become the hallmark of the festival. Alongside the risotto, the menu also features mushrooms, chestnuts, and typical local products.

Music, markets, and families

The day is enlivened by musical performances and concerts by local bands, by agricultural markets and stalls of local products, with guided tastings, entertainment for children, and visits to farms. Promoted in the municipality of Pizzale, the Sagra del Kiwi is a village festival that combines the promotion of an agricultural product with the typical conviviality of autumn in Pavia.
