Medieval reenactment in the ancient village of Rusio, Castione della Presolana
Rusio Medievale is the festival that transforms the ancient village of Rusio, a hamlet of Castione della Presolana (province of Bergamo), into an open-air medieval set. Unlike square reenactments, here the charm lies precisely in the location: Rusio is a tiny stone village nestled on the Presolana plateau, and its narrow alleys become the perfect backdrop for encampments, costumed figures, and period shows.
The weekend program alternates spectacular moments with more poetic atmospheres. It ranges from the medieval camp with tents and combat demonstrations to children's entertainment, from dances and jugglers to evening shows, up to live choirs and music, including bagpipes. Themed exhibitors and immersive forest experiences complete an offer designed to fully immerse the visitor in another era.
The village taverns, managed by the Rusio Committee, offer typical local traditional dishes, to accompany your visit with the flavors of the Orobie mountains. During the event, the village road is closed to traffic, and a free shuttle service connects the town, allowing you to enjoy the festival in complete tranquility.
Rusio Medievale is ideal for families, history and reenactment enthusiasts, and for those seeking a different experience during a summer holiday on the Presolana plateau, away from the main tourist crowds.
In 2026, the village of Rusio will once again host its medieval reenactment, traditionally held on a weekend in July on the Presolana plateau.
The usual program includes the medieval camp with tents, combat demonstrations, children's entertainment, dances and jugglers, evening shows, choirs, and period music performed live, as well as themed exhibitors and forest experiences. The Rusio Committee's taverns offer typical local traditional dishes. Precise dates, times, and detailed program will be published by Infopoint Presolana in the weeks preceding the event.
