Three days of international youth rugby on the pitches of Rovato
Every year, at the end of May, Rovato, in the province of Brescia, hosts one of the most crowded youth rugby tournaments in northern Italy. The Rovato City Tournament, organized by the Rugby Rovato club, has grown edition after edition to reach record numbers: the last edition saw 37 clubs participate, representing three nations and nine Italian regions, with 101 teams on the field, 275 matches played, over 1,600 tries scored, and more than 56 hours of actual play.
To host an event of this magnitude, one facility is not enough: the tournament uses up to 18 pitches, starting from the Stadio Giulio e Silvio Pagani, home of Rugby Rovato, to the facilities in neighboring municipalities. For three days, the entire area is dedicated to the oval ball, with post-match gatherings, families in the stands, and young athletes experiencing their first major competitive event.
The program covers all categories of mini-rugby and youth rugby: from the Prime Mete (First Tries) of Under 6 to the Under 8, 10, 12, and 14 categories, up to the 7-a-side rugby tournaments for Under 16 (Federico Doga Memorial) and Under 18 (Dario and Mia Ghidini Memorial). The memorials dedicated to young people who have passed away give the tournament a value that goes beyond the sporting result, linking it to memory and community.
More than a competition, the Rovato City Tournament is a gathering of enthusiasts that brings clubs from all over Italy and abroad to the province of Brescia. It's the perfect opportunity to discover the values of grassroots rugby — respect, teamwork, hospitality — and to experience a weekend of authentic sport in the heart of Franciacorta.
The 2026 edition confirms the three-day format: Friday dedicated to Under 16 7-a-side rugby, Saturday to Under 18 and Under 14 qualifiers, Sunday to the youngest categories (Under 6, 8, 10, 12) and Under 14 finals. The Stadio Giulio e Silvio Pagani is the heart of the tournament, supported by facilities in neighboring municipalities to accommodate all teams.
