About Rome Tango Marathon

The Rome Tango Marathon "Caput Mundi" returns to the capital for its fourth edition from September 18th to 20th, 2026. Thirty-six hours of continuous dancing dedicated to Argentine tango will bring the Sala Biblioteca of the Hotel Villa Maria Regina to life, located in the elegant district between Ponte Milvio and the Foro Italico. A long weekend of non-stop milongas featuring seven international TDJs, a spacious dance floor, and dancers from all over Europe: an endless embrace in the heart of the Eternal City.

An endless embrace in the Eternal City

The Rome Tango Marathon "Caput Mundi" is an Argentine tango marathon that transforms an entire weekend into an uninterrupted flow of milongas. Now in its fourth edition in 2026, the event draws passionate dancers to Rome from all over Italy and Europe, united by the desire to dance almost non-stop for thirty-six hours spread over three days.

The term "marathon" accurately describes the format: no stage, no shows to watch while seated, just tangueras and tangueros taking turns on the floor from early afternoon until the small hours. It is tango in its most authentic and social form, defined by the embrace and shared improvisation.

The setting: between Ponte Milvio and the Foro Italico

The venue is the Sala Biblioteca of the Hotel Villa Maria Regina, on Via della Camilluccia, in the municipality of Rome. We are in an elegant and quiet residential area between Ponte Milvio and the Foro Italico, just minutes from the historic center. The hall offers 320 square meters of parquet flooring, air conditioning, and a high-quality sound systemโ€”elements that make the difference between a good evening and a memorable experience for a dance marathon.

Non-stop milongas and attentive hospitality

For three days, the dance floor never stops: dancing continues from afternoon until night, with a gala evening on Saturday representing the most elegant moment of the entire marathon. Services designed for dancers ensure a comfortable stay: water, coffee, tea, soft drinks, fruit, and snacks always available, tango clothing and shoe stands, official photographers, and a massage corner to soothe tired feet between dances.

An international event in Rome

The marathon is brought to life by a team of seven international TDJs who alternate at the console to ensure musical variety and continuous dancing. The international dimension, combined with the choice of Rome as a backdrop, makes "Caput Mundi" a highly regarded stop on the European tango marathon calendar: many participants take the opportunity to combine dancing with a few days of sightseeing in the capital of the Lazio region.

  • Seven international TDJs and a Saturday gala evening;
