AI Hackathon at Urbe Hub in Testaccio, Rome
Romathon is an in-person hackathon held in the Testaccio district of Rome, featuring a challenge that is as simple as it is ambitious: transforming an idea into a real, functional digital product within a single day. The event, debuting in 2026, is designed to be accessible to everyone, even those with no prior programming experience, thanks to the use of AI-assisted development tools like Lovable.
The event takes place at Urbe Hub, a space dedicated to technological innovation located within the Città dell'Altra Economia, at Largo Dino Frisullo, in the heart of the former Mattatoio of Testaccio. Situated in the Municipality of Rome, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio Region), Urbe Hub is a landmark for developers, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts. The workday is concentrated into four intense hours, from the early afternoon until the final pitches.
Participants can join as individuals or in teams of up to four people. After an application and selection phase, admitted participants have the day to develop their project, supported by the community and mentors on-site. At the end, each team presents their work with a live pitch in front of the audience and the jury.
The winners of each category receive a month of free coworking at Urbe Hub, an individual mentorship session with a Lovable expert, and visibility for their creation within the community. More than just a competition, Romathon is an opportunity for connection and growth for the capital's tech scene.
Organized by Living Off AI in collaboration with Urbe Hub, Romathon is part of the vibrant wave of events dedicated to artificial intelligence and new technologies animating Rome. The setting of the Città dell'Altra Economia, a symbolic place for sustainable and participatory economy in Testaccio, adds a strong connection to the local territory and its community.
Romathon debuted on July 4, 2026, in the setting of Urbe Hub, within the Città dell'Altra Economia in Largo Dino Frisullo, Testaccio. The event, coordinated by Gianluca Giuliani (Lovable ambassador) and Marco Galluccio (co-founder of Urbe Hub), brought together developers and enthusiasts for a four-hour creative marathon.
Following the application phase and the selection announced on July 3, the admitted teams worked from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM to transform their ideas into real products. The day ended with live pitches and the announcement of the winners for each category, who were awarded a month of coworking at Urbe Hub and a mentorship session with a Lovable expert.
