A night dedicated to love in the villages of the Castelli Romani

The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is one of the flagship initiatives of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy: a unique, widespread event that, on the night closest to the summer solstice, invites residents and visitors to rediscover the country's historic centers in a new light, filled with candles, music, and encounters. In 2026, the festival reached its eleventh edition, involving over 230 villages from North to South, united by the same spirit on the same evening.
Among the villages animating this night are several centers of the Castelli Romani, the hilly area southeast of Rome famous for its landscapes, picture-perfect sunsets, and great winemaking tradition. Monte Porzio Catone, overlooking the vineyards in the province of Rome, in the heart of Lazio, is known as the City of Wine and for its renowned orchid and nativity scene exhibitions: an ideal setting for an evening that combines the beauty of the location, food and wine, and hospitality. The squares and alleys of the village come alive in the evening with entertainment and opportunities to meet, in an intimate and convivial atmosphere.
The 2026 edition chose the theme "Love for memories", an invitation to rediscover roots, traditions, and flavors capable of uniting different generations. In all participating villages, the evening is marked by common moments: the "Pensiero d'Amore" (Thought of Love), the official dessert of the event served in participating venues, and the traditional midnight kiss that symbolically closes the festival. Candlelight walks, concerts, serenades, art installations, and tastings complete a program designed to enhance the architectural and human heritage of these small towns.
The Romantic Night is an opportunity to experience the Municipality of Monte Porzio Catone and the Castelli Romani in a unique way, amidst memory, romance, and local identity.
The eleventh edition of the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, involving over 230 villages across the peninsula. The chosen theme, "Love for memories", invited people to rediscover roots, traditions, and flavors capable of uniting different generations.
In the Castelli Romani, including Monte Porzio Catone in the province of Rome, the evening offered the widespread atmosphere typical of the event: historic centers illuminated by candles, music, and tastings of local excellence. In all participating villages, the event's shared rituals returned, from the official "Pensiero d'Amore" dessert to the midnight kiss.
Monte Porzio Catone is located in the Castelli Romani, about 25 km southeast of Rome. By car, it can be reached from the A1 motorway (Monte Porzio Catone exit) or the Via Tuscolana. By train, the Monte Porzio Catone-Montecompatri station is served by the FL6 regional line Rome-Cassino.
The event takes place in the historic center and is free to attend; some tastings and offerings at local venues may require payment.
Outdoor evening: wear comfortable shoes for the uphill alleys and book a table at participating restaurants to taste the "Pensiero d'Amore" dessert.
