The Italian tribal dance festival
The Roma Tribal Meeting is the most important Italian festival dedicated to tribal dance and its contemporary evolutions: Tribal Fusion Bellydance and FCBD® / ATS® (American Tribal Style). Established in 2010 as the first gathering of its kind in Italy, the event takes place every May in Rome, Lazio, and has become a landmark appointment for the entire European tribal community.
The heart of the event is the San Lo' Dance Studio, located at Via Tiburtina Antica 5/B in the San Lorenzo district, complemented by the Centrale Preneste Teatro for evening shows. For three days, the Capital becomes home to instructors and dancers from across Europe and beyond, gathering to study, perform, and share their passion.
What is tribal dance?
Tribal dance blends the roots of belly dance with more modern body languages. The FCBD®/ATS® style is based on group improvisation: a shared vocabulary of movements allows dancers to follow each other visually without pre-set choreography. Tribal Fusion, on the other hand, mixes this heritage with contemporary dance, hip hop, flamenco, and world music, creating a personal and expressive style. The festival celebrates both souls with an open and inclusive approach.
A weekend of workshops and shows
The Roma Tribal Meeting program alternates between training and entertainment: international workshops, intensive performances with guest teachers, an evening gala show, an Open Stage for participants, and a bazaar featuring clothing, jewelry, and sector-specific crafts. The convivial dimension is also central, with a welcome party and community moments that create a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Hosting the main Italian tribal dance festival in Rome is no coincidence: the Capital, a crossroads of cultures and traditions, is the ideal setting for a dance that thrives on cross-pollination. The San Lorenzo district, with its artistic and academic vocation, adds an authentic and lively touch to an event that grows in quality and participation every year, attracting enthusiasts from across the province of Rome, the Lazio region, and abroad.
Roma Tribal Meeting — edition 2026
The fifteenth edition of the Roma Tribal Meeting, titled Simplicity Edition, was held from May 22 to 24, 2026, in Rome, split between the San Lo' Dance Studio on Via Tiburtina Antica and the Centrale Preneste Teatro. The program brought together international Tribal Fusion and FCBD®/ATS® Style teachers for an intense weekend of training, performances, and community life.

Throughout the weekend, a bazaar was set up featuring brands and artisans from the industry, including Shirin Unica, Poppypants Tribal Wear, Neeraja Wear, Tribal Lavka Shop, Ninive Tribe Treasures, Twin Tribe, and Timia Boutique.

How to get there
The San Lo' Dance Studio is a short walk from Termini Station and the San Lorenzo hub, well-connected by trains, metro, and buses. By car, the area is accessible via Via Tiburtina; however, public transport is recommended due to the scarcity of parking in the area.
