The river prawn takes centre stage in Ponte Parrano di Nocera Umbra
In Ponte Parrano, a small hamlet in the municipality of Nocera Umbra (province of Perugia), the month of July brings a much-anticipated festival: the River Prawn Festival. The event celebrates the river prawn, a delicacy linked to the clean waters of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines.
For a few days, the sports facilities of the hamlet are transformed into a large convivial space, with food stalls offering dishes based on river prawns and local cuisine specialties, accompanied by live music and entertainment. It is the typical Umbrian village festival, where the quality of the food combines with a family atmosphere and community welcome.
Now in its eighth edition, the festival is a firm fixture of the Nocera summer and an opportunity to discover a niche local product, in an authentic corner of Umbria far from the mass tourist circuits.
From July 16 to 19, 2026, Ponte Parrano, a hamlet of Nocera Umbra, hosts the 8th edition of the River Prawn Festival. At the hamlet's sports facilities, food stalls will offer dishes based on river prawns and local specialties, accompanied by evenings of live music.
The detailed day-by-day program will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event. The usual structure includes:
