About Righèa

La Righèa is the traditional Easter game of Vittorio Veneto: painted hard-boiled eggs rolled in special sand and clay basins, in a challenge that mixes billiards and bowls with roots in 19th-century peasant culture. Between Easter and Easter Monday, the city's districts set up their playing fields, with the highlight being the challenge between mayors in Piazza Cima.

A Centuries-Old Easter Game

Righèa is a traditional Easter game from Vittorio Veneto, in the province of Treviso, with roots in the peasant culture of the mid-19th century. Known as righèa in the Vittoriese area and as rigoena or rodolet in Conegliano and along the Piave river, it's a mix between billiards and bowls played with hard-boiled eggs.

How to Play

Each player has painted hard-boiled eggs that are rolled in turn into the righèa — a sand or clay field — with the aim of hitting opponents' eggs to dent them without damaging your own, or to get your egg to reach a coin placed in the field, which is then won.

The Tradition Today

The tradition, revived since the 1990s by local associations, is now carried on by volunteers who build the righèe, welcome visitors, and preserve the ritual. Several playing fields are set up between Vittorio Veneto and Conegliano, with thousands of hard-boiled eggs prepared for the occasion. The most anticipated moment is the challenge between mayors in the central Piazza Cima, on Easter Monday.

Righèa — edition 2026

The 2026 Righèa took place in Vittorio Veneto from March 27 to April 3, with playing fields set up in the districts of Ceneda, Serravalle, and Meschio. On Easter Monday, March 28 (Easter Monday will be April 6), the traditional challenge between mayors took place in Piazza Cima, organized by the Comunità Ludica della Righèa.

The Righèa tradition enlivened Vittorio Veneto from March 27 to April 3, 2026, with playing fields set up in Ceneda, Serravalle, Meschio, and other districts of the city.

The highlight took place in Piazza Cima at 3:00 PM, with the challenge between mayors on the city center's righèe. The organization was handled by the Comunità Ludica della Righèa, which builds the fields and prepares the painted hard-boiled eggs for the game each year.
