Radure - Cultural Spaces along the Southern Via Francigena is not a festival held in a single location: it is a journey. Every summer, the festival travels through the villages of the Lepini Mountains, bringing theatrical performances, concerts, literary meetings, and storytelling into Roman cisterns, archaeological sites, cloisters, castles, and historic squares. The common thread is the Southern Via Francigena, the ancient spiritual route that descends towards Rome and the South, which has connected these communities for centuries.
The project is promoted by the Compagnia dei Lepini with the support of the Lazio Region and the collaboration of the municipalities of Segni, Priverno, Norma, Roccagorga, Cori, and Maenza. Admission to all events is free: a deliberate choice that makes Radure a community project even before being a showcase for performances.
Roccagorga, a Lepini stop on the path
The Municipality of Roccagorga, in the province of Latina and in the heart of Lazio, is one of the six stops of the festival. The village, perched on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains with a view over the Pontine Plain, offers Radure two complementary settings: Piazza VI Gennaio, the open-air living room of the historic centre, and the Teatro Comunale, an intimate space ideal for spoken theatre. Summer evenings here have a unique rhythm: you arrive early, stroll through the alleys, and sit in the square when the heat fades.

The programme focuses on actor-led theatre and storytelling, with constant attention to local companies and small-format shows that work best in unconventional settings. Alongside theatre, there is space for live music, literary readings, and social commentary.

The festival connects these places with contemporary culture, returning them to the inhabitants before the visitors. In Roccagorga, the bond with the community is particularly evident: the Ethno-Museum of the Lepini Mountains, dedicated to material culture and local peasant traditions, offers guided tours with theatrical animation during the same period, in a natural dialogue with the festival.

The 2026 edition of Radure - Cultural Spaces along the Southern Via Francigena, the eighth, took place from July 2 to August 2 under the title "Anime in fuga". The project, promoted by the Compagnia dei Lepini with the support of the Lazio Region, involved the municipalities of Segni, Priverno, Norma, Roccagorga, Cori, and Maenza, opening on July 2 in the Roman Cistern of Segni with I digiuni di Caterina da Siena, written and directed by Dacia Maraini.
In Roccagorga, in the province of Latina, the programme offered two consecutive evenings in mid-July, one outdoors and one indoors, following the formula that characterises the festival: bringing theatre to where the public lives, without price barriers.
One theme, six villages
"Anime in fuga" served as the common thread for the entire programme, which alternated actor-led theatre, music, and storytelling in places such as the Abbey of Fossanova, the archaeological area of Privernum, ancient Norba, the historic centre of Cori, and the castle of Maenza. Among the titles on the bill were Assolo, La bellezza delle parole, Nostos - Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Appunti per un'epica nostra, Tre civette sul comò, Nebbie di Rimini, Letizia va alla guerra, Fino alle stelle - Scalata in musica lungo lo Stivale, and In versi.
During the same period, in Roccagorga, the Ethno-Museum of the Lepini Mountains opened its doors with guided tours accompanied by theatrical animation, starting from July 2, with the support of the Lazio Region and the Municipality.

How to get there
By car: from Rome, take the A1 motorway to Colleferro, then the SR 609 Carpinetana towards Priverno; or via the SS 148 Pontina to Latina and then head up towards the Lepini Mountains. From Latina, the centre of Roccagorga is about 25 km away.
By train: Priverno-Fossanova station on the Rome-Naples line via Formia, then Cotral bus or taxi to Roccagorga (about 10 km).
Tickets
Free admission to all festival events. For performances at the Teatro Comunale, seating is limited: it is advisable to arrive early.
Tips
Square events are held outdoors: bring a light sweater, as temperatures drop at altitude after sunset. Parking is available in areas outside the historic centre, which may be closed to traffic on performance evenings.
