About Pumpkin Farm

Every autumn, the Roma World theme park in Castel Romano (Rome's 9th Municipality) transforms into a Pumpkin Farm: hundreds of pumpkins, hay bales, and an autumnal village set against the backdrop of Ancient Rome. Children can pick their own pumpkin, carve and decorate it in guided workshops, and take it home. The day continues with gladiators, falconry, archery, and Roman cuisine: a rustic-style Halloween festival just a stone's throw from the capital.

A pumpkin farm in a Roman camp

The Pumpkin Farm has become the most anticipated autumn event at Roma World, the theme park dedicated to Ancient Rome located in Castel Romano, along the Via Pontina, within the Municipality of Rome (9th Municipality) in the Lazio Region. For about a month, between October and early November, the park complements its Roman setting with a complete autumnal makeover: hundreds of pumpkins arranged among hay bales, seasonal decorations, and photo spots that have made the event one of the most Instagrammable of the Roman autumn.

The formula is simple and beloved by families: the pumpkin is not just a decoration, but the heart of the experience. The result is what the organizers call a rustic Halloween, far from horror excesses and designed especially for younger children.

Carving and decoration workshops

The core of the event is the pumpkin carving and decoration workshops, hosted in the Taberna area and led by expert entertainers. Each child chooses their pumpkin from the field, carves it under the supervision of staff, personalizes it with colors and decorations, and takes it home at the end of the day.

  • Fixed sessions throughout the day, with limited spots for each appointment
  • Participation reserved for children accompanied by an adult
  • Online booking is recommended, as sessions sell out quickly on weekends
  • Affordable workshop fee, in addition to the park entrance ticket

The rest of the day at Roma World

The park entrance ticket grants access to all regular Roma World activities, which remain active during the pumpkin season. This is one of the aspects that distinguishes this festival from classic seasonal farms: autumn intertwines with the daily life of a reconstructed Roman camp.

  • Gladiator School: combat training and military techniques with the Roman historical group
  • Falconry show: the flight of eagles and other birds of prey
  • Archery and games in the woods
  • Botanical tour to discover the area's biodiversity
  • Ancient Rome Market and outdoor play areas
  • Traditional Roman cuisine and grilled specialties at the Taberna

Halloween nights

On the evenings closest to October 31st, the park also offers themed evening events, including the Escape Horror Night, an outdoor escape room with actors and special effects designed for an adult and teenage audience. This is a separate experience from the Pumpkin Farm, with a dedicated ticket: those looking for the family-friendly daytime formula will find the pumpkins and workshops to be the most suitable program.

Why it's worth the trip

In just a few years, the Pumpkin Farm has become a reference point for Roman families in autumn, alongside other seasonal initiatives on the coast and in the Castelli Romani area. Its strength lies in the combination of a simple, hands-on activity for children and a well-structured theme park that easily fills an entire day. Its location in Castel Romano, south of the capital, makes it quickly accessible from Rome, Pomezia, and the entire Lazio coast.

The Roma World season generally runs from April to early November: the Pumpkin Farm effectively represents its grand finale, the last event before the park's winter closure.

Pumpkin Farm โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Pumpkin Farm at Roma World has not yet been officially announced. The Castel Romano park has confirmed its 2026 season, open from April 3rd, and has anticipated the return of special Halloween events: the pumpkin festival should therefore repeat between October and early November, as in previous editions. Dates, workshop times, and prices will be published on the official website in the preceding weeks.
