The Premio Civetta is one of the most anticipated ceremonies at the end of the Salento summer. Hosted in the town of Castrì di Lecce, in the province of Lecce and the heart of Puglia, the award celebrates excellence in civil society, entrepreneurship, culture, and solidarity every year, highlighting individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves through their commitment to the local area and beyond.
Conceived in 2009 and promoted by CSI Castrì di Lecce with the patronage of the Municipality of Castrì di Lecce, the Premio Civetta has established itself over the years as a defining event for the local community. The "civetta" (owl) that gives the award its name symbolically represents wisdom and attention to human value. Throughout its editions, the event has honored prominent figures in journalism, business, medicine, sports, and non-profit organizations, alternating between nationally renowned personalities and local protagonists who represent the authentic soul of Salento.
The ceremony traditionally takes place in Piazza Caduti, which is transformed into an open-air stage for the occasion. The evening alternates between the presentation of awards and moments of entertainment, interviews, and testimonials: a format that blends the stories of the award winners with musical interludes and performances. The event is hosted by professional presenters and often features well-known television and entertainment figures as guests of honor.
The 2025 edition was held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 8:30 PM in Piazza Caduti, hosted by Ivan Bonetti with actress Anna Falchi as the guest of honor. Eleven awards were presented, including a prize for civil courage and recognition for local professionals and associations. The event was organized in collaboration with Terzo Millennio – Laboratorio di Umana Solidarietà APS, L'Arcobaleno Società Cooperativa Sociale, and Anyway Accessalento.
More than just an awards ceremony, the Premio Civetta is a moment of gathering for Castrì di Lecce: an occasion where the community comes together in the square to recognize the value of those working in the social, cultural, and entrepreneurial fields. Free admission makes it an event open to everyone, attracting both residents and visitors during the final stretch of the Salento summer.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the event is usually held in the second half of August or the first days of September. We recommend following the official channels of CSI Castrì di Lecce and the Municipality for updates on the program.
