About Pozzo Festival

Every spring, Pozzo d'Adda, a small municipality in the Martesana area near Milan, gathers for its Pozzo Festival: six evenings of food stalls, live orchestras and cover bands, group dancing, basketball tournaments, and the unmissable lottery. A genuine and popular village festival where the community comes together outdoors from late May to dine, dance, and listen to live music under the festival lights. Nothing fancy: just the authentic conviviality of a tradition that returns punctually every year.

A Village Festival in the Heart of Martesana

The Pozzo Festival is the most anticipated event of the year in Pozzo d'Adda, a town in the Martesana area of the province of Milan, along the eastern edge of the metropolitan city towards the Adda River. For six consecutive evenings, the town transforms: the food and wine stalls open every evening from 7:00 PM, live music starts at 9:30 PM, and between courses, people dance, play, and reconnect with neighbours, friends, and families.

Cuisine, Orchestras, and Group Dancing

The heart of the festival is its popular cuisine, with stalls offering traditional Lombard dishes accompanied by bar service. Every evening, a different band takes the stage: from pop and soul bands to hits from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, from Latin American music with DJs to liscio orchestras that liven up group dances, and even tributes to Italian songs. A musical program designed for all generations, where younger people find disco music and grandparents find dance orchestras.

Basketball, Entertainment, and Greased Pole Climbing

Alongside food and music, the festival dedicates ample space to sports and children. Inclusive basketball (baskin) matches and basketball tournaments for young people are regular features, while for the little ones, there are evenings of entertainment with Circotutรน and traditional games. The greased pole climbing, an unmissable moment for any self-respecting Lombard village festival, is also present.

The Lottery and Community Spirit

The event is organized by the Pozzo Festival Committee, an expression of local volunteerism, and traditionally concludes with the drawing of lottery tickets on the final evening. It's one of those festivals that tells the story of the most authentic Milanese province identity: far from major metropolitan events, it thrives on participation, volunteer effort, and the simple pleasure of being together outdoors on the first warm evenings of late spring.
