The dancing parade and Carnival party along Corso Matteotti
The Carnival of Porto Recanati, part of the "Insieme è Carnevale" (Together is Carnival) event, is one of the most cherished winter appointments in the town on the Marche coast, in the Province of Macerata. Promoted by the Municipality of Porto Recanati in collaboration with local merchants and city districts, the event transforms the heart of the town center into an open-air stage of colors, music, and joy. It is a celebration designed for the entire community, where children, families, and adults come together to celebrate the Carnival tradition.
The highlight is the dancing parade which, accompanied by music, parades along Corso Matteotti starting from the square in front of the Town Hall. Dancers bring rhythm and color through the streets of the center, reaching Piazza Brancondi, the pulsating heart of the event. Here, group dances for children and adults, entertainment, and shows take place, while the districts of Porto Recanati offer children typical Carnival fritters (castagnole), sweets, and drinks, in a convivial and family-friendly atmosphere.
The celebration doesn't end with the parade: the program continues with DJ sets, group dances, and live shows ranging from samba, fire, and capoeira performances to Latin music, giving the evening a lively and international atmosphere. Over the years, the event has offered different formats, with themed concerts for children, baby dance, themed games, and musical moments for all ages, confirming itself as an event capable of renewing itself while maintaining its popular spirit.
The Carnival of Porto Recanati is part of a calendar of spring events that liven up the town, often alongside the Spring Fair along Corso Matteotti. Admission is free and participation is open to all: an opportunity to experience the historic center of the Adriatic town in a festive way, amidst masks, confetti, and Marche tradition.
The 2026 Carnival of Porto Recanati was held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with a program that combined an afternoon dedicated to families with an evening party. The day opened at 4:00 PM with the dancing parade along Corso Matteotti, continuing in Piazza Brancondi with dances, music, and entertainment until late evening.
The Carnival takes place in the center of Porto Recanati (MC): the parade starts from the square in front of the Town Hall and runs along Corso Matteotti to Piazza Brancondi, where dances, shows, and entertainment are concentrated.
It is held during the Carnival period, between February and early March, generally on Sunday afternoons starting from 4:00 PM.
Admission is free. The distribution of fritters (castagnole) and drinks to children is offered by the city districts.
Porto Recanati is accessible from the A14 highway (Porto Recanati exit) and by the Adriatic railway line (Porto Recanati station). The center and Piazza Brancondi are a short distance from the seafront.
