Open-air cinema and urban regeneration under the arcades of Monte Cervialto
The Porticiak Festival is an annual summer open-air cinema and culture event that lights up the Monte Cervialto arcades, in the Serpentara district of Rome's Municipio III. Launched in 2023, the festival transforms a long-abandoned stretch of arcades—the old INPS shutters along Via Monte Cervialto and Via Gabrio Casati—into an open-air arena, known as Arena Portici, hosting five nights of screenings, meet-ups, live podcasts, documentaries, and comedy.
More than just a summer arena, Porticiak is a true urban regeneration project promoted by local associations. The goal is to return a forgotten public space to the community, demonstrating how citizens can envision and build their neighborhood's future through culture, cinema, and social interaction. The Roman suburbs thus take center stage, with a free festival that weaves together acclaimed auteur cinema, civic debate, and popular participation.
The program combines film screenings, current affairs documentaries, live recordings of popular podcasts, and stand-up comedy nights. Over the years, the festival has hosted prominent Italian directors, actors, and authors, alternating between recent films, social debates, and entertainment. Each evening is accompanied by music, a food area, and activities designed for children, in a festive atmosphere that engages the entire neighborhood.
Porticiak is an event with completely free admission and a strong focus on the environment: the venue is entirely plastic-free, protecting the environment in the spirit of sustainability that drives the entire project. Gates open every evening in the late afternoon, with the food area and activities preceding the main events of the night.
Located in the Monte Cervialto and Serpentara area, northeast of the capital, the Porticiak Festival represents a model of how culture can regenerate urban spaces in the Roman suburbs. In Lazio, and specifically in Rome, the initiative has become a staple of the summer, attracting audiences from across the city thanks to the quality of its programming and the social value of the project.
The fourth edition of the Porticiak Festival took place from June 23 to 27, 2026, at the Arena Portici in Monte Cervialto, with five free-admission evenings dedicated to cinema, podcasts, and comedy. Each evening, gates opened from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM, featuring a food area and activities before the main events, all within a completely plastic-free venue.
The most anticipated moment was the evening of Thursday, June 25, with Zerocalcare, guest of the Ragù Podcast and protagonist of the exclusive preview of two episodes of his new animated series Due Spicci. Other guests included Anna Foglietta, Giovanni Esposito, and Susy Del Giudice for the De Core Podcast, alongside screenings, a documentary dedicated to Giulio Regeni, and a final evening of stand-up comedy.
Each evening opens at 6:00 PM with a food area and neighborhood activities.
The Arena Portici is located at Via Monte Cervialto 130-146 and Via Gabrio Casati 63-77, in the Serpentara/Monte Cervialto district (Municipio III). The area is accessible via urban bus lines serving Serpentara and Talenti; by car, it can be reached via Via Nomentana or Via delle Vigne Nuove.
Free admission to all evenings. Gates open daily in the late afternoon (from approximately 6:00 PM) until late at night, with a food area and activities before the main events.
The venue is plastic-free: we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. Seating is limited, so it is best to arrive early for evenings with special guests.
