The design district in the heart of Milan's Fuorisalone
During Milan Design Week, alongside the Salone del Mobile, the city comes alive with scattered events that make up the renowned Fuorisalone. The Porta Venezia Design District is one of the key districts: it transforms the Porta Venezia neighborhood in Milan (Province of Milan, Lombardy) into a trail of installations, exhibitions, showrooms, and design projects spread across historic buildings, courtyards, and public spaces.
The theme of the fourth edition, from April 20 to 26, 2026, is "Design is Act", inspired by the thinking of designer and theorist Tomás Maldonado, who believed that design is never a mere formal exercise but an act of responsibility and awareness. This idea runs through the 56 projects and installations scheduled, created by over 350 designers and curators from around the world.
The 2026 edition marks a significant expansion: in addition to the historic heart of Porta Venezia, the district extends to the Città Studi Design Hub in the university district, fostering dialogue between design, research, and education, and also reaches NoLo. Among the flagship installations is "OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER" by 6:AM - GLASSWORKS at the historic Piscina Romano venue.
The district welcomed over 80,000 visitors, an increase compared to previous years, confirming Porta Venezia's role as one of the most dynamic hubs of Milan's Fuorisalone. The project is curated by NONSOLOLOFT and WUNDERPLACE STUDIO.
