About Popoli in Festa

Popoli in Festa is Fermignano's multicultural festival, in the Marche region, dedicated to the meeting of world cultures, traditions, and languages. For three days, the historic center and Piazza Giorgiani become a crossroads of peoples, with live music, multicultural dinners, workshops, artistic performances, and community gatherings. An event that celebrates inclusion, conviviality, and the richness of the mosaic of communities living in the Fermignano area.

A Crossroads of Cultures in the Heart of the Marche

Popoli in Festa is the festival dedicated to the meeting of world cultures, traditions, and languages that enlivens Fermignano each year, a small town in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. For a few days, the historic center, and particularly Piazza Giorgiani, transform into a large space for sharing where music, conviviality, artistic contamination, and participation build an authentic ethnic mosaic, made up of the many communities living and working in the area.

A Festival That Tells the Stories of Communities

More than just a simple festival, Popoli in Festa is the culmination of year-round work, involving meetings, school projects, and shared paths. The cultural heart of the event is the project "La Storia siamo Noi" (History is Us), conceived by artist Giovanni Gaggia with art critic Pietro Gaglianò: a journey of active citizenship and collective memory involving schools, associations, and the foreign communities present in Fermignano, giving voice to their stories, their words, and their tales.

Music, Dances, and Flavors from Around the World

The program blends different genres and languages. Musical performances range from reggae to African world music, from singer-songwriter music to traditional Mediterranean music. The evenings come alive with free concerts, group dances from participating peoples, and festive moments open to all. The gastronomic dimension is also present, with the multicultural dinner featuring dishes from Romania, China, Ivory Coast, and Albania, themed aperitifs, and traditional bread-making workshops curated with Slow Food, comparing breads from seven different communities.

Workshops, Walks, and Participation

Alongside the evening events, the days are filled with daytime activities: theater workshops for schools, readings from around the world, school choirs, historical walks to discover the center of Fermignano, and round tables on the theme of community. Everything contributes to making the festival a participatory and inclusive experience, where citizens, tourists, and the curious can get to know the numerous communities in the area up close.

An Event to Experience in Fermignano

Organized by the Municipality of Fermignano with the support of numerous local entities, Popoli in Festa is now a regular event at the beginning of summer in the Marche hinterland, just a few kilometers from Urbino. An opportunity to discover a welcoming small town and, at the same time, to celebrate the meeting of peoples in an atmosphere of festivity, dialogue, and fraternity.
