POP-UP Teatro · From Book to Stage is a children's and family theatre festival promoted by Fortezza Est, a small theatre venue on via Francesco Laparelli, in the heart of Tor Pignattara, one of the most vibrant and multicultural neighbourhoods in Rome's Municipio V. The festival transforms great works of children's literature into live performances, designed to introduce the youngest audiences to the magic of theatre.
A bridge between generations
The project was born from a simple yet ambitious idea: to build a bridge between generations by offering children and their parents the chance to reflect on the present through universal tales. Classic fairy tales and contemporary narratives become opportunities to discuss acceptance, diversity, courage, and growth, using a refined and thoughtful theatrical language.
Shows and Juke-Books
A different show takes the stage every weekend, on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM. The morning performances are complemented by the Juke-Books format: a space dedicated to books featuring animated readings, reflections, and insights to delve deeper into the themes presented on stage, scheduled for 5:00 PM. The participating companies — from Divisoperzero to Compagnia Fortezza Est — work with puppets, marionettes, objects, and storytelling in an intimate and engaging setting.
Fortezza Est and Tor Pignattara
With fewer than one hundred seats, Fortezza Est is one of the most interesting independent venues on the Roman theatre scene: a space for research and experimentation supported by Roma Capitale through its public notice dedicated to private theatres. The festival is part of the children's theatre programming in the Tor Pignattara district and helps make Municipio V a reference point for local culture in the Lazio region.
