Author poetry meets the painting of Silvestro Lega in Sala Bernabei
Poetico. National Festival of Author Poetry is an itinerant exhibition dedicated to contemporary poetry which, on its stop in Modigliana, brings the voices of the most recognized Italian poets to the Municipality in the Province of Forlì-Cesena. The event takes place in the Sala Bernabei, in the historic center of Modigliana, a village in the so-called Tuscan Romagna nestled in the Apennine hills, close to the border with Tuscany.
The Modigliana stop has a special character, as it is dedicated to the link between poetic word and visual arts. The event, titled "Seeing new and seeing ancient. Dialogue on poetry", compares the pictorial works of Silvestro Lega — the great Macchiaioli painter born in Modigliana — with the poetry of Giovanni Pascoli and Ivonne Mussoni, creating a bridge between different artistic languages to reflect on the present through memory. The event is part of the celebrations for the bicentenary of Silvestro Lega's birth.
Conceived and promoted by the cultural association Metropolis with the artistic direction of Marco Colonna — writer, poet, and founder of the festival — Poetico is a widespread event that includes numerous appointments in various municipalities between the provinces of Forlì-Cesena and Ravenna: in addition to Modigliana, the festival touches Longiano, Brisighella, Castrocaro Terme-Terra del Sole, Meldola, Santa Sofia, Forlimpopoli, and Ravenna. The project, created in collaboration with the Teatro delle Forchette association, aims to celebrate poetry as an authentic artistic creation and to explore the links between poetic word and other arts.
Each evening is built around a nationally renowned poet, introduced and discussed live. The Modigliana stop featured poets Ivonne Mussoni and Clery Celeste, in dialogue with each other, introduced by Marco Colonna, president of the Metropolis association. The meetings combine readings, book presentations, and conversations that bring the audience closer to today's poetry in an informal and participatory atmosphere.
The Modigliana stop is a precious opportunity to discover author poetry in one of the most charming villages of Emilia-Romagna, combining a walk through the historic center and the places of Silvestro Lega with an evening dedicated to words and beauty.
