Pittula Festival

The 2025 Pittula Festival in Surano was held on December 23, confirming the traditional date linked to the winter solstice period and the day before Christmas Eve. In the historic center, between Piazza Municipio and the town streets, the community gathered around the fryers for the customary free distribution of Salento pittule.

As per tradition, the fritters were offered in variations with cauliflower, herring, pizzaiola, and other typical ingredients, accompanied by local wine. The evening featured folk music, Christmas lights, and a space dedicated to children with games and entertainment, in one of the longest-running and most beloved festivals in the province of Lecce.
