About Perduto Amore

An evening of words, images, and suggestions in the halls of the Ex Convento delle Clarisse in Belvedere Ostrense, in the Marche region. With "Perduto Amore" (Lost Love), Max Cimatti takes the audience on a journey through the love stories that ignited the art world between the 19th and 20th centuries: mad, all-consuming, desperate passions, but also sublime bonds capable of generating inspiration and masterpieces. A storytelling event organized by the Municipality together with Belvedere Ostrense Borgo della Lettura (Village of Reading).

An evening of storytelling in the heart of Belvedere Ostrense

"Perduto Amore" is an original performance by Max Cimatti, a journey through some of the unforgettable love stories that ignited the art world between the 19th and 20th centuries. Through the personal lives of great artists, Cimatti gives voice to contested, obsessive, desperate loves, but also to sublime and indissoluble bonds, capable of fueling inspiration and transforming into works of art.

The event takes place in Belvedere Ostrense, a small hilltop village in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region, within the evocative halls of the Ex Convento delle Clarisse (Former Convent of the Poor Clares), one of the most beloved settings for cultural events in the town.

The loves that made art history

Cimatti delves into the most intimate and existential aspects of his characters and retraces their tormented sentimental journeys. Among the stories told are:

  • the ardent love between the writer Sibilla Aleramo and the poet Dino Campana;
  • the story of the sculptor Camille Claudel and her relationship with Auguste Rodin;
  • the intense and conflicted relationship between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

The narration is accompanied by images and readings of the works created by the protagonists themselves, weaving biography, poetry, and figurative art into a single narrative.

Belvedere Ostrense, Village of Reading

The initiative stems from the collaboration between the Municipality of Belvedere Ostrense and the Belvedere Ostrense Borgo della Lettura project, which for years has been organizing meetings with authors, book presentations, and storytelling evenings in the cellars and halls of the Ex Convento delle Clarisse. It is an event designed for those who love spoken word and wish to discover, in an intimate atmosphere, the human side of great artists.

At the end of the performance, there will be a convivial moment with a sweet buffet and a toast, an opportunity to exchange impressions with the artist and other spectators.
