Edition 2025 — Pecorino Cheese Fair
The 2025 edition of the Pecorino Cheese Fair took place from September 1 to 7 in the historic center of Pienza. For a week, the Val d'Orcia village hosted the large market of Pecorino di Pienza, with producer stalls, tastings of local cheeses and wines, and numerous gastronomic initiatives.
The most anticipated moment was the Gioco del Cacio al Fuso in Piazza Pio II, the joust that saw the six districts of the town — Case Nuove, Casello, Gozzante, La Mura, Il Prato, and San Piero — compete in an attempt to roll the wheel of pecorino as close as possible to the spindle. The festival was completed by flag-waver performances, music, and moments of folklore.
