The Patronal Feast of Sant'Alessandro in Cesate

In the municipality of Cesate (Province of Milan, Lombardy), the Patronal Feast of Sant'Alessandro is the most important religious anniversary of the year. The patron saint, Saint Alessandro the Martyr – a figure linked to the devotional tradition of the Milanese and Bergamascan area – is celebrated at the end of August with a feast organised by the San Paolo VI Pastoral Community, which brings together the town's parishes in a single pastoral journey.

Faith and Devotion

The heart of the feast is religious: the Solemn Holy Mass opens the celebrations, followed by the Eucharistic celebration dedicated to the sick, a moment of particular attention towards the most vulnerable members of the community. The torchlight procession, with its illuminated procession through the town's streets in the evening, is one of the most evocative and anticipated moments: a river of lights accompanying the image of the patron saint in an atmosphere of intense reflection.
