The historical peasant reenactment of Nova Milanese
La Festa da Nôa e dal Furmentùn is the historical reenactment of Nova Milanese, in the Province of Monza and Brianza. The name in dialect refers to the city itself ("Nôa", Nova) and corn ("furmentùn"), a symbol of the peasant civilization that the festival aims to celebrate. Born in 2006, it has become an eagerly awaited event over the years, capable of transforming the historic center into a large open-air theatre.
During the event, the streets and courtyards of the center are populated by costumed figures and scenes that recall different eras – from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and up to the 20th century. Theatre, music, dance, and songs liven up the spaces, alongside depictions of daily life, trades, and local traditions. The common thread of each edition revolves around a theme, often related to food as an element of sustainability, solidarity, and hospitality.
Organized by the Ecomuseo of Nova Milanese, active in the Parco Grugnotorto Villoresi and based at the Villa Brivio Cultural Centre, the festival is much more than a sagra (traditional festival); it is a project to enhance local memory, involving associations, volunteers, and residents. For those who want to discover authentic Brianza, it is a precious opportunity to experience peasant tradition in a choral and evocative setting.
In 2026, La Festa da Nôa e dal Furmentùn will once again animate the historic center of Nova Milanese with its historical reenactment of peasant civilization. Curated by the Ecomuseo of Nova Milanese, the festival stages costumed figures, theatre, music, dances, and songs, recreating different eras and celebrating corn and the territory's roots. Traditionally held in September, over a long weekend, the 2026 edition confirms an event that has been recounting the peasant memory of Brianza since 2006. Dates and detailed program will be released by the Ecomuseo in the weeks prior.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the Ecomuseo of Nova Milanese. The established structure of the festival includes:
