The Patron Saint of Val Seriana

Saint George is the patron saint of Fiorano al Serio, a town in the middle Val Seriana valley, in the province of Bergamo. His feast day, which revolves around April 23rd, is one of the most cherished events in the town: for five days, the religious and popular dimensions merge in a program that involves the entire community.

Fair, Bonfire, and Tradition

The feast opens with the traditional eve's fair, featuring rides, bouncy castles, a market, and stalls along the town's streets, accompanied by an exhibition of vintage cars. On the eve of the feast, the traditional bonfire lights up the center, followed by refreshments organized by the local AVIS chapter: a community ritual that marks the start of the celebrations.

Devotion and Art

The patron saint's day is marked by the solemn Mass for the feast of Saint George, and in the following days, by a procession. Among the most beloved events are the performance by the street painters from Bergamo, with a chalk workshop to introduce children to the art of street painting, and the puppet show by the historic Virginio Baccanelli company, part of Bergamo's cultural heritage.

There are also convivial moments, such as the Saint George's dinner at the parish hall and a charity raffle.
