Saint Bartholomew, Patron Saint of Cassiglio

The Patronal Feast of Saint Bartholomew is the most important event of the year for Cassiglio, a village of just a hundred inhabitants nestled in the Upper Val Brembana, in the Province of Bergamo. The patron saint, Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, is celebrated on the third Sunday of August, around the liturgical date of August 24th, in a festival that brings together the entire small community.

The Parish Church, a Treasure Trove of History

The heart of the celebrations is the parish church of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, an authentic artistic treasure. Inside, it preserves the frescoes of the Dance of Death, dating back to the second half of the 15th century, and an ancient 19th-century Bossi organ, which has been restored. The five bells, cast by the Pruneri foundry between 1894 and 1954, accompany the most solemn moments of the feast with their chimes.

Between Faith and Tradition

The feast is structured around religious celebrations: masses, vespers, and the procession of the patron saint through the village streets. In such a small village, where every inhabitant participates, the patronal feast takes on a very strong identity value, marking the summer calendar and renewing the community's bond with its roots and the Bergamo mountains.
