Patacò Festival

The 31st edition of the Patacò Festival was inaugurated on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Licodia Eubea (Catania), at the Ex-Monastery of San Benedetto and Santa Chiara. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Santo Randone, the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Salvatore Barbagallo, the mayors of Mineo and Grammichele, and the Deputy Mayor of Santa Pau, a Spanish town twinned with the Iblei village.

The opening was marked by the conference «History, flavors, and traditions: from the grass pea to the Santa Pau castle», featuring speeches by Professor Antonio Barone and Dr. Filippo Gozzani. The event continued on Sunday with tastings of patacò, workshops, and shows, in a «triumph of scents and flavors of yesteryear» centered around the grass pea, a De.Co. product and part of the Slow Food Ark of Taste.
