The Epiphany bonfires on the night of January 5th
The Panevin is the ancient Epiphany bonfire typical of the Veneto region, lit on the evening of January 5th or 6th to "burn the old year" and wish prosperity. In Vittorio Veneto, in the province of Treviso, the tradition is renewed in several parts of the city: several authorized Panevin burn on the same evening, each animated by neighborhood associations and communities.
Around the fire, traditional gestures are renewed: the pinza (the peasant dessert of the holidays), mulled wine, and, for the little ones, the anticipation of Befana. The direction of the sparks and smoke from the Panevin is observed, according to custom, to draw omens about the agricultural year.
In Vittorio Veneto, a children's Panevin in the Rossi Area and the traditional Panevin in Prati di Nove coexist, along with other neighborhood bonfires. It is one of the most cherished winter festivals in Vittorio Veneto, capable of gathering families and communities in the cold Epiphany evening around a large propitiatory fire.
On Monday, January 5th, 2026, Vittorio Veneto celebrated the Panevin, the Epiphany bonfire, in multiple locations throughout the city.
A total of seven Panevin were authorized in the municipality, each organized by neighborhood communities.
The Panevin are lit in several areas of Vittorio Veneto; the traditional bonfire is in Prati di Nove (Via della Ferrovia). The city is reachable by car (A27) and by train.
Free admission. Distribution of pinza and mulled wine by neighborhood associations.
