The Epiphany bonfire of the Alpini in Paese
The Panevin di Paese is the large Epiphany bonfire organized by the Gruppo Alpini di Paese, in the province of Treviso, at the Alpini house in via Tre Forni. It is one of the many bonfires that light up the Marca Trevigiana on the evening of January 5th and 6th, where the panevin (or Pan&Vin) is a deeply rooted tradition.
Around the fire, the community gathers to bid farewell to Befana and "burn the old year," as the popular saying goes. There is no shortage of hot mulled wine and pinza, the simple dessert typical of Venetian Epiphany. According to peasant tradition, the direction of the faìve — the sparks lifted by the wind — is used to predict the outcome of the harvest for the year ahead.
More than a festival, the Panevin is a moment of identity for the town and an opportunity to gather outdoors in the heart of winter. The organization entrusted to the Alpini, a historical and active presence in local volunteering, strengthens its community value.
For 2026 too, the Gruppo Alpini di Paese lit the Panevin on January 6th, Epiphany day, at 7:00 PM at the Alpini house in via Tre Forni. Around the bonfire, the community gathered for the propitiatory rite of the Marca Trevigiana, with mulled wine and pinza.
Outdoor event with free admission.
