The medieval historical reenactment of the Tempesta Lords
The Palio di Noale is the historical reenactment that brings the town of Noale, in the province of Venice, back to the heart of the 14th century. The event revives the palio proclaimed by the Tempesta Lords in their castle in the years 1339 and 1347, and since 1996 it has been renewed every year in June, animating the Rocca dei Tempesta and Piazza Castello.
The protagonists of the festival are the districts (contrade) of Noale — Bastia, Cerva, Drago, Gato, San Giorgio, San Giovanni, and Sant'Urbano — which compete in the Palio race, a mixed-gender relay of about 800 metres. The competition is the culmination of three days of festivities where the medieval market of the districts and ancient crafts are brought back to life.
The programme alternates between the grand historical parade with hundreds of costumed participants, the Bala d'Oro ceremony (dedicated to girls turning eighteen), the burning of the Tower, and numerous shows: jugglers, fire-eaters, falconers, and flag-wavers animate the village streets, amidst music and duels.
Organised by the Associazione Culturale Palio di Noale, the Palio is one of the most cherished events in the region. For visitors to the Veneto, it is the ideal opportunity to discover the history of the Tempesta family and the atmosphere of an authentic medieval village, just a few kilometres from Venice.
The 2026 edition of the Palio di Noale takes place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, between the Rocca dei Tempesta and Piazza Castello, in the historic centre of Noale (VE).
For three days, the village relives the atmosphere of the 14th century: a historical parade with hundreds of participants, a medieval market of the seven districts (Bastia, Cerva, Drago, Gato, San Giorgio, San Giovanni, Sant'Urbano), the Palio race, the Bala d'Oro ceremony, and the burning of the Tower. The official dates are indicated by the Municipality of Noale.
Note: in 2025 the event extended over two weekends; for 2026 the Municipality indicates June 19-21. Detailed programme provided by the Associazione Culturale Palio di Noale.
