The medieval historical re-enactment of the Tempesta Lords
The Palio di Noale is the historical re-enactment that takes the town of Noale, in the province of Venice, back to the heart of the 14th century. The event revives the palio competition instituted by the Tempesta Lords in their castle in the years 1339 and 1347, and since 1996 it has been renewed every year in June, animating the Rocca dei Tempesta and Piazza Castello.
The protagonists of the festival are the districts of Noale — Bastia, Cerva, Drago, Gato, San Giorgio, San Giovanni, and Sant'Urbano — which compete in the Palio race, a men's and women's relay of about 800 meters. The competition is the culmination of three days of festivities where the medieval market of the districts and ancient crafts are brought back to life.
The program alternates between the grand historical pageant with hundreds of costumed participants, the Bala d'Oro ceremony (dedicated to girls turning eighteen), the Tower's burning, and numerous shows: jugglers, fire-eaters, falconers, and flag-wavers animate the village streets, amidst music and duels.
Organized by the Associazione Culturale Palio di Noale, the Palio is one of the most cherished events in the region. For visitors to Veneto, it is the ideal opportunity to discover the history of the Tempesta family and the atmosphere of an authentic medieval village, just a few kilometers from Venice.
The 2026 edition of the Palio di Noale takes place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, between the Rocca dei Tempesta and Piazza Castello, in the historic center of Noale (VE).
For three days, the village relives the atmosphere of the 14th century: a historical pageant with hundreds of participants, a medieval market of the seven districts (Bastia, Cerva, Drago, Gato, San Giorgio, San Giovanni, Sant'Urbano), the Palio race, the Bala d'Oro ceremony, and the Tower's burning. The official dates are indicated by the Municipality of Noale.
Note: in 2025 the event extended over two weekends; for 2026 the Municipality indicates the dates of June 19-21. Detailed program distributed by the Associazione Culturale Palio di Noale.
