Paesaggi Sonori

A festival of music and landscape

Paesaggi Sonori was born in 2016 with a simple and radical idea: to take great auteur music out of theaters and concert halls and into the most beautiful and lesser-known places in Abruzzo. Plateaus, ancient ruins, medieval fortresses, mountain churches, and wild clearings become natural theaters, accessible only on foot or via sustainable transport. The philosophy is one of the slow pace: the audience walks to reach the stage, and the journey itself becomes part of the concert.

Paesaggi Sonori in Tornimparte

In the municipality of Tornimparte, in the province of L'Aquila, the festival stages two major events, part of the broader MEMORIALIA (DOMUS – Act III) artistic project that enlivens the village of Piè La Villa. The hamlets, alleys, and cellars are transformed into an exhibition path, while live music reaches two iconic locations in the area.

• Eve Matin — concert in the church of Santo Stefano, a medieval jewel isolated on a hill between the hamlets of Colle Marino, Forcelle, and Rocca Santo Stefano, famous for its frescoes. A secluded and history-rich setting for an intimate listening experience.
• Iosonouncane (Jacopo Incani) — sunset live at Forca di Castiglione, a grassy saddle at 1,356 meters above sea level, opening between the beech forests of the Gran Sasso and frequented by wild horses. The concert site is reached exclusively on foot, with a hike of about 45 minutes from the parking area.

An immersive experience in the Abruzzo landscape

The strength of Paesaggi Sonori lies in the encounter between sound and environment: voices and instruments dialogue with the wind, the sunset light, and the mountain profiles. Not just a concert, but a collective ritual that invites you to slow down, start walking, and rediscover the identity of the places. Past editions have brought international artists to settings such as Rocca di Calascio, Campo Imperatore, Peltuinum, and the Piano di Fugno plateau.

The territory

Tornimparte is located in the interior of Abruzzo, a short distance from L'Aquila, at the foot of the Apennine massifs. The festival is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the region, made of villages, traditions, and pristine nature, where contemporary culture intertwines with historical heritage.
