Music and landscape in Tornimparte, between the church of Santo Stefano and the Forca di Castiglione
Paesaggi Sonori was born in 2016 with a simple and radical idea: to take great auteur music out of theaters and concert halls and into the most beautiful and lesser-known places in Abruzzo. Plateaus, ancient ruins, medieval fortresses, mountain churches, and wild clearings become natural theaters, accessible only on foot or via sustainable transport. The philosophy is one of the slow pace: the audience walks to reach the stage, and the journey itself becomes part of the concert.
In the municipality of Tornimparte, in the province of L'Aquila, the festival stages two major events, part of the broader MEMORIALIA (DOMUS โ Act III) artistic project that enlivens the village of Piรจ La Villa. The hamlets, alleys, and cellars are transformed into an exhibition path, while live music reaches two iconic locations in the area.
The strength of Paesaggi Sonori lies in the encounter between sound and environment: voices and instruments dialogue with the wind, the sunset light, and the mountain profiles. Not just a concert, but a collective ritual that invites you to slow down, start walking, and rediscover the identity of the places. Past editions have brought international artists to settings such as Rocca di Calascio, Campo Imperatore, Peltuinum, and the Piano di Fugno plateau.
Tornimparte is located in the interior of Abruzzo, a short distance from L'Aquila, at the foot of the Apennine massifs. The festival is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the region, made of villages, traditions, and pristine nature, where contemporary culture intertwines with historical heritage.
The two stages of Paesaggi Sonori in Tornimparte are part of the MEMORIALIA program (July 9-12, 2026), the widespread project that transforms the village of Piรจ La Villa into an exhibition path featuring shows, installations, and performances.
Surrounding the concerts, from July 9 to 12, the MEMORIALIA program offers vernissages, screenings, workshops, performances, and exhibitions in the municipality's hamlets.
Tornimparte (AQ) can be reached by car from the A24/A25 motorway (L'Aquila Ovest exit), just a few kilometers from the regional capital. The municipality's hamlets host the various events.
The Iosonouncane live show at Forca di Castiglione is accessible only on foot: about 45 minutes of easy walking from the parking lot, with the area opening at 5:00 PM for the 6:30 PM concert. Comfortable clothing, hiking shoes, a water bottle, a hat, a waterproof jacket, a mat or blanket for sitting, and a headlamp are recommended. There are no refreshment points in the concert area. The Eve Matin concert takes place in the church of Santo Stefano.
