The rebirth of the ancient Flower Festival in the historic center of Osimo
Osimo in Bloom is the major event dedicated to flowers that the Municipality of Osimo, in the Province of Ancona, has chosen to revive one of the city's most beloved traditions: the historic Flower Festival which, since the early 1900s, mobilized the entire Osimo community. The 2026 edition, scheduled for May 23rd and 24th, marks the return of the festival in a completely new guise, designed to unite generations through the beauty of blooming and to relaunch the historic center and the entire city fabric.
For two days, the medieval village of Osimo transforms into an open-air enchantment: over thirteen thousand flowers are arranged along the streets, alongside seventy flowering plants and about thirty exhibitors from the horticultural, craft, and herbal sectors. The Osimo in Bloom market fair animates Via Lionetta, Piazza del Comune, and Corso Mazzini, while the "Futura in Fiore" market, dedicated to floral crafts, occupies Piazza delle Erbe.
The artistic heart of the event is the mosaic flower carpet created by the TruciolinArte association in Piazza Boccolino, alongside the Flower Graffiti Wall and floral installations set up in the various districts. In Piazza Marconi, the Carro di San Sabino and the Carro dell'Abbadia parade, while the historic center comes alive with the parades of flag-throwers and the procession of the Banda Musicale Città di Osimo, which performs the historic anthem of the Flower Festival.
Osimo in Bloom involves neighborhood committees, parishes, and about twenty local associations, present with their own stalls along Corso Mazzini. The Municipality accompanies the festival with the "Flowering Windows, Balconies, Shop Windows, and Alleys" competition, which invites citizens and merchants to embellish the city. The result is a truly participatory event, which restores to Osimo and the Marche a tradition capable of exciting and uniting.
The first edition of the new Osimo in Bloom format transformed the historic center of Osimo into an open-air garden. Between Via Lionetta, Piazza del Comune, and Corso Mazzini, the market fair brought together horticultural exhibitors and artisans, while Piazza delle Erbe hosted the "Futura in Fiore" market.
The visual heart of the festival was the mosaic flower carpet by TruciolinArte in Piazza Boccolino, the Flower Graffiti Wall, and the floral installations in the districts. The Banda Musicale Città di Osimo paraded on Sunday, performing the historic anthem of the Flower Festival, accompanied by the flag-thrower parades on Saturday evening.
Numerous workshops (Florealab, floral henna, floral prints, Repair Café), bonsai and photographic exhibitions, guided tours, and shows were held, with the award ceremony for the "Flowering Windows, Balconies, Shop Windows, and Alleys" competition.
Osimo is located in the Province of Ancona, a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast. By car, it can be reached from the A14 motorway (exits Ancona Sud or Loreto-Porto Recanati); the Osimo-Castelfidardo train station is a few kilometers from the historic center, connected by local buses. The nearest airport is Ancona-Falconara.
The event is free and spread throughout the historic center. The market fair is open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Some activities, such as guided tours and some workshops, require booking.
