The city orchestra's classical music season, featuring Mozart, chamber music, and educational projects
The ORMA – Orchestra Macerata Concert Season is one of the most anticipated events in the cultural life of the provincial capital. Promoted by the Municipality of Macerata and recognized by the Ministry of Culture and the Marche Region, the series brings a program of classical music to the historic center of the city, ranging from the symphonic repertoire to chamber music, from monographic projects dedicated to great composers to initiatives designed for schools.
ORMA is Macerata's city orchestra, an established artistic project that has built a loyal audience and a recognizable identity over the years. The programming is divided into several strands: major anniversaries in music history, monographic projects, chamber music, orchestral activities, and educational activities for children. A formula that combines artistic quality and local roots, with the aim of making great music accessible to the entire Macerata community.
The 2026 edition, running from January to May, opened with a focus on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, celebrating the 270th anniversary of his birth. Among the main events:
The heart of the series is the 18th-century Teatro Lauro Rossi, an Italian-style jewel overlooking Piazza della Libertà, but the concerts also reach the Teatro della Filarmonica and the Auditorium dell'Asilo Ricci, highlighting the various cultural spaces in the historic center of Macerata.
The ORMA season is part of a long-standing musical tradition that makes Macerata, in the Marche region, one of the capitals of classical music in Italy: from the Sferisterio with the renowned Macerata Opera Festival to the numerous city events. A program that confirms the provincial capital's vocation for great music, twelve months a year.
The 2026 season of ORMA – Orchestra Macerata opened on Sunday, January 18, at the Teatro Lauro Rossi with a Homage to Mozart for the 270th anniversary of his birth: pianist Alberto Cingolani and the ORMA orchestra performed Piano Concerto K 414, Adagio and Fugue, and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
