Music, word, and choral singing at the Abbey of Pomposa
The Onde Sonore Festival is a widespread musical event in Emilia-Romagna promoted by Assonanza, the Regional Association of Music Schools, together with the UNESCO Chair "Education, Growth and Equality" of the University of Ferrara. The festival was created to promote listening education and the encounter between different languages — music, narration, theater, visual arts, and short films — involving orchestras, youth bands, choirs, ensembles, and hundreds of students from local schools.
The event in Codigoro, in the province of Ferrara, hosts the show "Le Guerre di Ulisse" in the park of the Abbey of Pomposa, a Romanesque jewel that in 2026 celebrates the millennium since its consecration. It is an intense and contemporary reinterpretation of the figure of Ulysses, a universal symbol of journey, trial, and knowledge, in which music, word, and choral singing merge. The original text is by Patrizio Bianchi, and the music is composed by Marco Somadossi.
In addition to the event in Codigoro, the 2026 edition offers appointments in various cities of Emilia-Romagna: the scenic narration ΣLΣKTRON on the myth of Phaethon in Ferrara, the choral experience Voci In Risonanza in the Basilica of San Cassiano in Comacchio, and the creative workshop MusArte – Oggetti in Trasformazione at the MAR Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna. A program that unites the municipalities of Ferrara and Ravenna in a single shared listening experience.
Attending "Le Guerre di Ulisse" means discovering the Abbey of Pomposa, one of the most evocative places in the province of Ferrara and the entire Po Delta, where medieval architecture meets live music. Admission is free until capacity is reached, and the event is designed for families, enthusiasts, and the curious of all ages.
The Onde Sonore Festival 2026 animated various venues in Emilia-Romagna from April 17 to 22, including Ferrara, Codigoro, Comacchio, and Ravenna, with shows, narrations, and workshops dedicated to listening education.
In the park of the Abbey of Pomposa, on Sunday, April 19, at 3 PM, "Le Guerre di Ulisse" was performed: text by Patrizio Bianchi, music by Marco Somadossi, with narration by Luca Violini, double bass by Gianluca Ravaglia, piano by Francesco Imbriaco, and voice by Serena Dominici. On stage, the Representative Youth Band of Emilia-Romagna conducted by Mirco Besutti, the V. Veneziani Choral Academy, and students from the Comprehensive Institute of Codigoro.
