A widespread event re-naturalizing the Rione Monti district through food, wine, and poetic walks.
NaturalMonti is a widespread event held in the Rione Monti, the oldest district in Rome, nestled between the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, and Santa Maria Maggiore. Promoted by the Monti Green business network, with the patronage of Rome's First Municipality and the support of the Lazio Region, the initiative involves local businesses, artisan shops, and green spaces, turning them into venues for meeting, culture, and social interaction.
The central theme is clear: resisting the homogenization of territoriesโwhether they are historic centers like Monti, small villages, or the countrysideโand initiating a process of "re-naturalization" of the district through greenery, memory, and quality of life. It is a project focused on slow, conscious tourism, aiming to enhance Monti's authentic identity beyond fleeting trends and hasty consumption.
The second edition, scheduled for spring 2026, chooses food & wine as the key to opening a dialogue. Food and wine become both a pretext and a tool: tastings, workshops, and meetings with winemakers and producers from various regions alternate with short talks, striking the right balance between conviviality and depth. At the core is the value of artisanal quality and short supply chains, in dialogue with neighborhood committees and local businesses.
The poetic heart of the event is the Monti Poetic Walks, curated by the association Exotique APS. A guided journey through the streets of the district, passing by historic shops, artisan workshops, and quality venues to share the stories of Monti's social and productive fabric. It is a way to discover the neighborhood at a slow pace, guided by the words, flavors, and perspectives of those who live and cherish this area every day.
NaturalMonti is not a simple food festival or a gastronomic fair: it is a cultural and civic project that intertwines taste, poetry, and commitment to the territory. In the Lazio region, and in the heart of Rome, it represents an example of how a district can tell its story and reinvent itself starting from its own roots and its community of residents, artisans, and merchants.
The second edition of NaturalMonti takes place on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the Rione Monti, Rome, with food & wine as the common thread. The day alternates between walks, tastings, and moments of discussion, all in the spirit of resisting the homogenization of historic territories.
The morning is dedicated to the Monti Poetic Walk (curated by Exotique APS), starting at 10:30 AM from Piazza degli Zingari: a three-hour route through the district's shops and artisan businesses, with stops and tastings. In the afternoon, at Enoteca Cavour 313 (Via Cavour 313), a convivial round table brings together winemakers, restaurateurs, and neighborhood committees to build networks and shared visions.
Throughout the day, tastings and meetings with producers will take place across the district's businesses. Program subject to updates on the Monti Green network channels.
Rione Monti, Rome (Province of Rome, Lazio). Main reference point: Piazza degli Zingari and surrounding streets (Via del Boschetto, Via degli Zingari, Via Baccina, Via Panisperna).
By Metro: Line B, Cavour stop, just a short walk from the district; alternatively, the Colosseo stop (Line B). Roma Termini station is reachable on foot in about 15 minutes. Driving is discouraged: the historic center is a limited traffic zone (ZTL).
Many of the widespread initiatives are free to enter. Some activities, such as the Monti Poetic Walks, have limited capacity with mandatory booking and a dedicated participation fee (including visits and tastings). We recommend checking the program and details on the Monti Green network channels.
