The national gathering of communities that venerate Saint Vito, hosted in Recanati
The National Meeting of the Towns of San Vito is the event that annually brings together the Municipalities and communities of Italy united by their devotion to Saint Vito, the young martyr venerated as patron in numerous locations across the peninsula. Promoted by the National Coordination of the Towns of San Vito (founded in 1999), the event changes host city from edition to edition, intertwining spirituality, popular traditions, and institutional dialogue between administrators, parishes, and associations.
For its 25th edition, from April 17th to 19th, 2026, the Meeting chose Recanati, a city in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region, famous for being the birthplace of Giacomo Leopardi and the tenor Beniamino Gigli. The theme of the year, "The Value of Life", guided the three days of events hosted in the heart of the historic center, between the Town Hall and the Church of Sant'Agostino.
The event brought together 32 delegations from all over Italy, from Municipalities such as Alberobello, San Vito Lo Capo, Positano, Forio d'Ischia, Monte San Vito, and Nole, in a great moment of exchange between territories that share the same patron saint.
The program combined cultural and religious dimensions: the inaugural conference dedicated to the value of life, the presentation of a book with musical accompaniment by the guest choirs, the Expo of the Towns of San Vito featuring regional gastronomic specialties, concerts, and the exchange of gifts between delegations, culminating in the procession of the banners and the solemn closing mass. An event that blends identity, hospitality, and faith into one large national network.
Hosting such a heartfelt gathering is a recognition for Recanati, a hillside town in the Marche region overlooking the Adriatic Sea, where the gentle landscape of the hills inspired the most famous verses of Italian poetry. Visiting the city during the Meeting means combining the devotional aspect with a stroll through Leopardi's sites, the squares, and the historic palaces of the center.
The 25th edition brought 32 delegations from Italian Municipalities devoted to Saint Vito to Recanati for three days dedicated to institutional dialogue, culture, and devotion, under the theme "The Value of Life". The Town Hall and the Church of Sant'Agostino were the heart of the events, with the participation of administrators, parish communities, and choirs from various regions.
The events take place in the historic center of Recanati (MC): Aula Magna and Loggia of the Town Hall in Piazza Giacomo Leopardi, and the Church of Sant'Agostino.
