The national review of amateur theatre that brings Italy's best non-professional companies to Ponte nelle Alpi
The National Festival of Amateur Theatre "Paolo Dego" is a national event held at the Piccolo Teatro G. Pierobon, in the hamlet of Paiane in Ponte nelle Alpi, province of Belluno. The event is dedicated to the memory of Paolo Dego and features non-professional theatre companies from all over Italy competing.
Groups and associations regularly constituted and registered with a national amateur theatre federation (FITA, UILT, TAI, and others) can participate. Each year, the organization selects five performances, chosen through the evaluation of video recordings, which take turns on stage during the festival. The performances, in Italian or dialect, have a duration of approximately 60 to 120 minutes.
At the end of the festival, a technical jury award and an audience choice award are presented, giving voice to both experts and spectators. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Ponte nelle Alpi, with artistic direction entrusted to a local cultural association (APS Bretelle Lasche of Belluno), and enjoys the patronage of the Province of Belluno.
The completely renovated Piccolo Teatro Pierobon is an intimate venue with about 150 seats that becomes the home of quality amateur theatre for a few weeks, capable of attracting companies and enthusiasts from all over the peninsula to Ponte nelle Alpi.
