Great music among the villages, islands, and boats of Sebino
Born in 2017, Musical Waves on Lake Iseo is a review that every summer enlivens both shores of Sebino, between the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. Organized by the Luigi Tadini Association of Lovere in collaboration with Visit Lake Iseo, the festival has made territorial diffusion its distinctive feature: concerts are not concentrated in a single venue but move to about twenty lakeside municipalities, enhancing villages, churches, villas, and natural corners of the lake. Iseo, the tourist capital of Sebino in the province of Brescia, is one of the nerve centers of the event.
The program is deliberately eclectic: classical, opera, sacred, ancient, jazz, tango, and crossover music alternate in a program that ranges from great masterpieces to lesser-known repertoire. Alongside the actual concerts, there are musical performances and competitions, with particular attention to young talents from Italian Conservatories and foreign Academies, alongside established artists and winners of international competitions.
The added value of the festival is the extraordinary variety of locations: concerts are held in the churchyards of parish churches, in the ports, in historic villas, and even aboard the boats that ply the lake. Listening to a sunset concert on Sebino, with Monte Isola in the background, is an experience that combines the musical dimension with the landscape in a way that is difficult to replicate.
The project is led by the internationally renowned guitarist Claudio Piastra, artistic director since the first edition, who wanted to make Musical Waves a platform capable of uniting interpretive excellence and territorial enhancement. For Iseo and the municipalities of Sebino, the festival represents a leading cultural event of the Lombard summer.
The 9th edition of the Musical Waves festival on Lake Iseo features 66 events spread from May 29 to September 5, 2026, with the participation of over 200 artists. The program includes opera, chamber music, sacred, ancient, jazz, tango, and crossover concerts, as well as musical performances and competitions, with established artists, winners of international competitions, and young talents from Conservatories and Academies. Concerts are held in about twenty municipalities in the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia, in artistic venues and natural settings around Sebino.
