Summer evenings of music, theatre, and art in the medieval village of Pianiano
MUSA - Music, Performance, Art is the summer festival that, every July, brings world-class music and live performance within the walls of the medieval village of Pianiano, a small hamlet in the municipality of Cellere, in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia region. Organised by the Municipality of Cellere in collaboration with the Pro Loco, the event has become a staple of the Alta Tuscia summer, attracting audiences from across the province of Viterbo and beyond.
The charm of MUSA lies in its setting. Pianiano is a compact, quiet medieval village where ancient stones, narrow alleys, and panoramic views of the Tuscia countryside create a natural backdrop for performances. The evenings take place outdoors, under the starry July sky, in an intimate atmosphere that brings the audience closer to the artists and gives music an almost familiar dimension.
The hallmark of MUSA is its variety. Each edition offers a journey through different artistic languages: from classical music and opera to jazz, gipsy and manouche influences, and world music, as well as tributes to great songwriters and film scores. Alongside the concerts, theatre and dance also find their place, in an interweaving of arts that gives full meaning to the festival's name.
MUSA is also an opportunity to experience the village of Pianiano in its entirety. On festival evenings, starting in the late afternoon, a refreshment area is set up featuring local products, combining artistic performance with the pleasure of conviviality and local gastronomy. It is the perfect way to discover the flavours of the Tuscia region before settling in for the concert.
The festival is an expression of the bond between the municipal administration, the Pro Loco, and local associations, which work every year to promote Pianiano and the entire Municipality of Cellere through culture. In a region like Lazio, which is rich in summer events, MUSA represents the ambition of a small village that chooses artistic quality and hospitality as tools to promote its heritage.
The 2026 edition of MUSA - Music, Performance, Art features three evenings in the medieval village of Pianiano, in Cellere (VT), all on Saturdays with concerts starting at 9:00 PM and a refreshment area with local products available from 7:00 PM.
The evenings confirm the multidisciplinary vocation of the festival, ranging from world sounds to singer-songwriter music and the great Italian cinematic repertoire.
The festival is held in the medieval village of Pianiano, a hamlet of Cellere (VT), in the Alta Tuscia area of northern Lazio.
