The 10 km competitive road race in the heart of the Alta Murgia, in Santeramo in Colle
Murgia di Corsa is the competitive road race that brings the streets of Santeramo in Colle to life every year. Located in the province of Bari, this town overlooks the Alta Murgia plateau, bordering the Basilicata region. The event is organized by ASD Murgia Marathon Santeramo with the technical approval of FIDAL Puglia and the patronage of the Municipality of Santeramo in Colle and the Puglia Region. Since its inception in 2023, the race has grown rapidly to become a key fixture in the regional running calendar.
The race covers a distance of approximately 10 kilometers, winding through both urban streets and the outskirts of the Murgia countryside. The start and finish lines are located in Piazza Di Vagno, the town's beating heart, where athletes, coaches, and spectators gather. The flat, fast course showcases the natural and historical heritage of Santeramo and the Alta Murgia, offering participants a glimpse of the typical landscape of the Apulian hinterland.
Murgia di Corsa is part of the Corripuglia Regional Championship, the circuit that brings together the main road races in Puglia. This status attracts hundreds of FIDAL-registered runners representing dozens of sports clubs from all over the region. The competition is open to junior, promise, and senior categories, both male and female, in accordance with the technical regulations of the Italian Athletics Federation.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the event aims to promote the local area and a healthy lifestyle through outdoor sports. The event involves the entire community of Santeramo in Colle: volunteers, associations, local businesses, and law enforcement work together to ensure assistance, safety, and hospitality along the entire route. The result is a popular celebration of sport that combines competition, social connection, and the promotion of the Alta Murgia.
