The Motocavalcata dei Monti della Laga is a classic amateur enduro event that brings Torricella Sicura to life every autumn. This small mountain town in the province of Teramo, nestled in the heart of northern Abruzzo, serves as the perfect backdrop. Organized by the Moto Club Falchi della Laga (MC Falchilaga), affiliated with the Italian Motorcycling Federation, the rally attracts hundreds of enthusiasts from across the country each year.

The Route

The course spans approximately 120 kilometers in a figure-eight layout, featuring dirt roads, mule tracks, and trails that traverse the territory between Torricella Sicura and nearby Rocca Santa Maria, at the foot of the Monti della Laga. The route offers a medium-to-high difficulty level, which increases significantly in wet conditions, and includes several optional hard and extreme sections designed for experienced riders, inspired by the 'Headless Rider Extreme' race of the Italian Extreme Enduro Championship, also organized by the club.

The Salita del Salame

One of the most characteristic and entertaining moments of the day is the traditional Salita del Salame (Salami Climb): a steep ramp that the most daring riders attempt to conquer to win a local salami as a symbolic prize. It is a lighthearted ritual that perfectly captures the convivial spirit of the event, where sporting challenges always go hand-in-hand with celebration and camaraderie.

Sport, Nature, and Territory

Beyond the motorcycling aspect, the Motocavalcata is an opportunity to discover a corner of Abruzzo still untouched by mass tourism: the forests, pastures, and villages of the Teramo side of the Monti della Laga, located within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. The start and finish lines are located in the center of Torricella Sicura, in Piazza Mario Capuani, which transforms into a lively open-air paddock for the occasion.

Reaching its fourteenth edition in 2025, the Motocavalcata dei Monti della Laga has established itself as a benchmark enduro event in the Abruzzo calendar, appreciated as much for the quality and variety of its route as for the hospitality and passion of the Moto Club Falchi della Laga and the entire Torricella Sicura community.
