Hiking, nature, and music in the Laga Mountains
The Appennino Festival – Inclusivo di Natura arrives in the municipality of Cortino, in the province of Teramo, in the heart of the Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains National Park. This is one of the Abruzzo stages of a major touring series that travels year after year through the villages of the central Apennines across four regions: Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, and Umbria.
The formula is the one that made the festival famous: a guided hike to discover the area, followed by cultural moments and a live concert. Each stage creates a temporary community of hikers, residents, and visitors, united by the desire to rediscover the Apennine mountains and their landscapes.
Cortino rises on the slopes of the Laga Mountains, an area of great natural value made of forests, pastures, waterfalls, and small villages. The festival stage is designed to showcase this often-overlooked heritage, enhancing the trails and traditions of local communities. The festival was born with a precise vocation: to revitalize the inland areas of the central Apennines, many of which were marked by the 2016 earthquake, through experiential tourism, culture, and solidarity.
The day in Cortino combines walking along the Laga trails with a program of cultural and musical events. The stage features a performance by the group Laga Brigante, which brings the music and popular repertoire linked to this mountain district to the stage. The goal is to offer a complete experience, where the nature hike intertwines with the rediscovery of the territory's cultural roots.
The Cortino stage is part of a calendar that covers most of the year, with dozens of appointments distributed in numerous municipalities of the central Apennines. Each stage is curated in collaboration with local administrations, local associations, and volunteers, the true protagonists of an event that makes its participatory and inclusive character its distinctive trait.
Participating in the Cortino stage of the Appennino Festival means experiencing a day dedicated to nature, culture, and conviviality in one of the most authentic corners of the Teramo mountains.
The Cortino stage of the 2026 Appennino Festival is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026. It is part of the 17th edition of the festival, titled "Inclusivo di Natura," which takes place from May 3 to October 31, 2026, with 31 events distributed across 29 municipalities of the central Apennines, between Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, and Umbria.
As per tradition, the day combines a guided hike in the Laga Mountains with cultural and musical moments. A performance by the group Laga Brigante, linked to the popular repertoire of the district, is planned. The stage confirms the festival's commitment to enhancing the inland areas of Abruzzo and promoting slow, sustainable, and participatory tourism.
