Great classical music comes for free to the Walser auditorium at the foot of Monte Rosa
Monterosa Classica is a summer classical music festival held in the valleys at the foot of Monte Rosa, in the Aosta Valley. Conceived and coordinated by Patrick Mittiga and Giorgio Costa (Associazione Musica & Muse), the event has pursued the goal of making fine music accessible to everyone since its early editions, enhancing the territories and venues that host it: churches, auditoriums, and spaces of acoustic and architectural prestige among Brusson, Champoluc-Ayas, Challand, and Issime.
Among the festival's venues, the Z'Lannsch Hous Auditorium in Issime, a Walser municipality in the Lys Valley, Aosta Province, stands out. The name itself, in the Titsch dialect, reflects the town's German-speaking identity. The auditorium is a regular and historic stop for the festival, which offers free admission concerts here, usually in the evening.
The programming ranges from the great composers — from Baroque to Classicism, from Romanticism to contemporary repertoire — also giving space to emerging young talents. In past editions, the Issime auditorium has hosted chamber ensembles and piano duos with programs dedicated to waltz music and film scores, confirming the variety that characterizes the festival.
Attending a Monterosa Classica concert in Issime means combining the enjoyment of great music with the discovery of an authentic corner of the Aosta Valley, amidst Walser culture, alpine landscapes, and mountain hospitality.
The 2026 edition of Monterosa Classica has not yet been officially announced with dates and a detailed program at the time of writing this description. However, the festival is a recurring event of the Aosta Valley summer, and Issime, with its Z'Lannsch Hous Auditorium, is a historic venue.
Based on the tradition of previous editions, concerts are held between July and August, in the evening and with free admission, featuring repertoires ranging from Baroque to contemporary. The final schedule is published by Associazione Musica & Muse and reported by the Aosta Valley press in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (dates, venues, and performers for concerts in Issime) has not yet been published at the time of writing. It will be announced by Associazione Musica & Muse, usually shortly before summer.
