The great rally challenge of the Modena Apennines, starting from the Ferrari Museum in Maranello
The Rally Città di Modena is one of the most established motorsport events in Emilia-Romagna. Organized by Rally Team New Turbomark with the patronage of the Automobile Club Modena, it brings hundreds of crews to the hilly roads of the Modena Apennines every spring, in a setting that combines passion for engines with the charm of the Emilia region's Motor Valley. The headquarters and the scenic heart of the event are located in Maranello (Province of Modena), in the area in front of the Ferrari Museum, from where the start ceremonies take place and where the final awards are presented.
The peculiarity of the Rally Città di Modena is its dual nature. Alongside the race for modern cars, valid for the Coppa Rally di Zona, the Historic Città di Modena runs, reserved for vintage rally cars and valid for the Trofeo Rally di Zona. This format allows the public to admire both modern Rally2 and Skoda Fabia RS cars and the historic models that have made the history of Italian rallying in a single event.
The competition unfolds along a route that crosses the municipalities of the Modena hinterland, with timed sections repeated several times. Among the historic special stages of the race are "Barighelli", "Lavacchio", and "Valle", true tests for drivers and co-drivers. The shakedown, a period for running in and fine-tuning the cars, traditionally takes place in the Serramazzoni area.
Holding the rally with a start from the Ferrari Museum is no coincidence: Maranello is the global symbol of Italian motorsport, and the entire Province of Modena represents the heart of the so-called Emilia Motor Valley. The event celebrates this deep connection between the territory and engines, transforming the Apennine roads into a grand sporting stage for a weekend.
Admission is free: fans can watch the special stages along the route and follow the start and finish ceremonies in Maranello free of charge. An event that attracts spectators from all over Emilia-Romagna and neighboring regions every year.
The 43rd edition of the Rally Città di Modena (and 8th of the Historic Città di Modena) took place on the weekend of April 24-26, 2026, with its operational base in Maranello. The event, organized by Rally Team New Turbomark with the patronage of the Automobile Club Modena, registered 102 registered crews between the modern and historic sections, confirming the race's strong appeal in the Modena Apennines. The race was valid for the Coppa Rally di Zona (modern cars) and the Trofeo Rally di Zona (Historic Città di Modena).
The race consisted of six special stages in total across Saturday and Sunday.
Maranello can be reached by car from the A1 motorway (Modena Sud exit), continuing towards the Apennines. By train, the reference station is Modena, connected by local buses to Maranello.
The start and finish take place in the area in front of the Ferrari Museum, on Via Dino Ferrari in Maranello. The special stages are held along the roads of the Modena Apennines (Serramazzoni, Lavacchio, Valle areas): consult the official times and spectator points on the organization's website.
Free and open admission for the public.
