Historic cars from Trieste towards the heart of Mitteleuropa
The Mitteleuropean Race, organized by ASD Adrenalinika, is a major regularity rally for historic cars that makes Trieste the capital of vintage motoring. The start and finish take place in the majestic Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, the city's seaside lounge, from which the cars set off on a route that winds through Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia.
The course spans over 600 kilometers with about a hundred timed sections, visiting symbolic places in the region: Aquileia, Palmanova, the castles of Friuli, the historic Trieste-Opicina climb on the Karst plateau, and, across the border, Sežana, Nova Gorica, and the Collio wine region. The race combines sporting challenge with territorial discovery, amidst landscapes, food and wine, and Mitteleuropean culture.
The event has multiple facets: the Superclassic regularity category for vintage cars, a section for modern cars, and the Mitrace Tour Cup, a tourist rally dedicated to supercars. The program concludes with the Concours d'Elegance in the center of Trieste, a true showcase for four-wheeled jewels, featuring the prestigious "Città di Trieste" award.
Promoted with the support of the Municipality of Trieste, the Mitteleuropean Race is now a regular fixture on the spring calendar, attracting enthusiasts and elite tourism while highlighting the villages and scenic roads of the Karst and Friuli regions.
For its tenth anniversary, the Mitteleuropean Race returns from May 21 to 24, 2026 with a special edition dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake. The route crosses the symbolic places of Friuli's rebirth, from the reconstructed Cathedral of Venzone to Gemona del Friuli, intertwining historical memory and automotive passion.
The classic facets of the event are confirmed: the Superclassic regularity for historic cars from 1910-1979 along 600 kilometers with about a hundred timed sections, the modern car section, the Mitrace Tour Cup for supercars, and the final Concours d'Elegance in the center of Trieste.
The general program for the tenth edition includes four days:
