The international modern and contemporary art fair in Milan, at Allianz MiCo
miart is the modern and contemporary art fair of the city of Milan, organized by Fiera Milano. Every spring, it draws galleries, collectors, curators, and enthusiasts from around the world to Milan, establishing itself as one of the key events for the art market and culture in Italy.
The fair takes place in the South Wing of Allianz MiCo, the large convention center in the CityLife district, in Milan's 8th Municipality. The spacious exhibition areas host dozens of Italian and international galleries, in a journey that spans modernity and contemporaneity, from the great masters of the 20th century to the newest voices.
miart's structure is divided into several sections: Established, dedicated to galleries presenting both 20th-century art and recent productions; Emergent, focused on experimentation and the promotion of emerging voices; and special projects like Movements, dedicated to moving images. For anniversary editions, an anthological section recounts the fair's trajectories and transformations over time.
miart is the gravitational center of Milan Art Week, the week when the entire city comes alive with exhibitions, vernissages, and events held in museums, foundations, and galleries. Under the guidance of its artistic direction, the fair confirms Milan's role as the Italian capital of contemporary art and as a key international hub for collecting.
The 2026 edition of miart, its thirtieth, celebrates its anniversary with the title "New Directions," a tribute to the famous 1963 album and a statement of intent for a transformation that involves every aspect of the fair's identity. The event takes place at Allianz MiCo in CityLife from April 16 to 19, with a reserved preview on April 16.
The fair brings together approximately 160 galleries from 24 countries, distributed across the Established sections (from modern masters to recent productions), Established Anthology (an anthological section for the thirtieth anniversary), Emergent (emerging voices), and the special Movements project dedicated to moving images. The artistic direction is by Nicola Ricciardi.
