About Medieval Festival Saint Sigismund

The Medieval Festival of Saint Sigismund transforms the center of Rivolta d'Adda, in the province of Cremona, into a medieval village of yesteryear. Among knights, flag-wavers, falconers, jugglers, and artisan workshops, the re-enactment celebrates the saint to whom the parish church and the Romanesque basilica of the town are dedicated. A day of shows, market, and historical costume parade, with free admission.

A Dive into the Middle Ages

The Medieval Festival of Saint Sigismund takes the center of Rivolta d'Adda, in the province of Cremona, back in time. Organized by the Pro Loco Rivolta d'Adda in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the event celebrates Saint Sigismund, the saint to whom the parish church and the splendid Romanesque basilica of the town are dedicated.

Knights, Flag-Wavers, and Ancient Crafts

The square is filled with knights, swordsmen, and flag-wavers, alongside shows by falconers, jugglers, acrobats, and street artists. The workshops of ancient crafts showcase techniques and works from the past, while a medieval encampment with tents reconstructs the atmosphere of the era. For the little ones, there are stations with old-fashioned games.

The Historical Parade and the Fair's Roots

The most anticipated moment is the historical costume parade, which winds through the town's streets in the afternoon. The festival has deep roots in an ancient tradition: documents from the State Archives of Milan from 1453 already mention a Saint Sigismund fair in Rivolta d'Adda. The event, with free admission, thus combines historical re-enactment, entertainment, and local identity, enhancing the heritage of the Municipality and its Romanesque basilica.
