Rivolta d'Adda awakens in the Middle Ages
The Medieval Festival of Saint Sigismund takes the center of Rivolta d'Adda, in the province of Cremona, back in time. Organized by the Pro Loco Rivolta d'Adda in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the event celebrates Saint Sigismund, the saint to whom the parish church and the splendid Romanesque basilica of the town are dedicated.
The square is filled with knights, swordsmen, and flag-wavers, alongside shows by falconers, jugglers, acrobats, and street artists. The workshops of ancient crafts showcase techniques and works from the past, while a medieval encampment with tents reconstructs the atmosphere of the era. For the little ones, there are stations with old-fashioned games.
The most anticipated moment is the historical costume parade, which winds through the town's streets in the afternoon. The festival has deep roots in an ancient tradition: documents from the State Archives of Milan from 1453 already mention a Saint Sigismund fair in Rivolta d'Adda. The event, with free admission, thus combines historical re-enactment, entertainment, and local identity, enhancing the heritage of the Municipality and its Romanesque basilica.
On Friday, May 1st, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, the Pro Loco Rivolta d'Adda brings the first edition of the Medieval Festival of Saint Sigismund to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. The town center transforms into a medieval village enlivened by re-enactments and shows.
Scheduled are combat groups, swordsmen, and flag-wavers, falconry shows, jugglers, and acrobats, workshops of ancient crafts, and a medieval encampment with tents. In the afternoon, the historical costume parade takes place.
Rivolta d'Adda can be reached by car from the Crema area and the Milan hinterland. The festival takes place in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II and in the streets of the historic center.
Admission is free. The event takes place during daylight hours (approximately 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM). For the detailed program, it is advisable to consult the channels of Pro Loco Rivolta d'Adda.
