About Meda Carnival

In Meda, in the Province of Monza and Brianza, Carnival follows the Ambrosian rite and ends on the Saturday after Ash Wednesday. At the San Giacomo Oratory, the afternoon is dedicated to costumed children, with inflatables, music, and the Tatos Magic Show. A community celebration, organized by the Santo Crocifisso Pastoral Community, which combines the fun of the little ones with the tradition of the Ambrosian Carnival of Brianza, with a convivial moment that also involves families.

The Ambrosian Carnival in Meda

The Meda Carnival is the Carnival celebration of the Municipality of Meda, in the Province of Monza and Brianza. Like all of Brianza, Meda follows the Ambrosian rite: Carnival does not end on Mardi Gras as in the rest of Italy, but on the Saturday after Ash Wednesday. This is a peculiarity of Milanese and Brianza tradition, linked to the liturgy of the Church of Milan.

The party in the Oratory

The heart of the celebration is the San Giacomo Oratory, in Via Cialdini. The afternoon is dedicated to costumed children, who can have fun with inflatables and musical entertainment. The highlight is the Tatos Magic Show, designed to engage children and families with magic tricks and entertainment.

Magic and conviviality

Alongside the show, the celebration offers a convivial moment that also involves families, in collaboration with local parish organizations. The Meda Carnival thus presents itself as a simple and genuine celebration, rooted in the life of the oratories and in the religious and popular tradition of Brianza.

A community tradition

Organized by the Santo Crocifisso Pastoral Community, the Meda Carnival is an event that enhances the role of oratories as gathering places for children and families. In a sober but festive context, the event renews the tradition of the Ambrosian Carnival in the Meda area every year.
